





Vietnamese people have many traditional dishes that were made for a long, long time ago. That depends on each region and each domain to made traditional dishes. For example, in the south of Vietnam, people usually make glutinous rice cake (bánh tét) for New Year, ceremony, and some other special events. In the north and central part of Vietnam, people often make square glutinous rice cake (Bánh chưng). Glutinous rice cake and square glutinous rice cake are almost the same. Both are often made for special days. They are the oldest conditional dishes, which people still make them. People have their own ways to make it. Although people have many differences to make it, the main materials: rice well, green beans, meat fat, dry coconut, Salt, sugar, banana leaf rope columns, green onion oil. People have to spend more time for making, and they often boil them or steam about 7 to 10 hours, maybe more. They are better if you eat them with pickled vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, white radish, garlic, and so on. People habitually use sugar, vinegar, and many kinds of vegetable to make pickled things. Now, if people want to keep it long time, they have to put it in refrigerator. Most Vietnamese doesn’t have it that is why they give it to their relative and neighbors when they make it a lot. If you want to try it, you can buy it in Vietnamese supermarket anywhere. I can quarantine it is quite delicious.
